title: Status Response
description: "Status 0x00, server → client."
---

`status` · `0x00` · **clientbound** (server → client)

The server's answer to `StatusRequest`. It carries a JSON string with version name and protocol number, player count and sample, MOTD, favicon, and secure-chat flags. The client shows this data in the multiplayer server list.

Sent by the server, read by the client. Listen for it with `client.on("StatusResponse", (data) => …)` on the receiving side.

## Fields

| Field | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| `jsonResponse` | String |  |

## Send it

```ts
// Server side, in reply to StatusRequest.
await client.sendPacket("StatusResponse", {
  jsonResponse: {
    version: { name: "26.2", protocol: 776 },
    players: { max: 20, online: 1, sample: [] },
    description: { text: "My server", color: "aqua" },
    enforcesSecureChat: false,
  },
});
```

`jsonResponse` accepts either an object, which is serialized automatically, or an already serialized JSON string. Advertise the protocol number the server accepts in `version.protocol`.

Field aliases listed under Notes are accepted as alternative keys when writing.
