title: Entity Event
description: "Play 0x22, server → client."
---

`play` · `0x22` · **clientbound** (server → client)

Triggers a status event on the entity `entityId`, identified by the byte `entityStatus`. Examples are hurt or death animations, totem of undying pop, wolf shaking, and villager happy particles. The client plays the matching effect.

Sent by the server, read by the client. Listen for it with `client.on("EntityEvent", (data) => …)` on the receiving side.
